Product Description

This Collins 6 Ft Replacement Microphone Cable with PJ-068 / MIL-P-642/5A Connector Installed,is made with the highest quality Cable and microphone connector. The Cable is very flexible and soft to the touch.

This is pro line microphone cable and is marked as such on the jacket. The PJ-068 / MIL-P-642/5A Connector which is installed, is also very high quality with a metal sleeve rather than plastic. This will assure complete shielding. With a plastic sleeve, you basically have an inch which is not properly shielded.

It has Beryllium Copper stereo plug and solder contacts and is Designed according to MIL-P-642/5A specifications, type PJ-068 or Signal Corps PL-68 microphone connectors. The connector features high quality construction with chuck type strain relief and slim line metal barrel to meet the high requirements for military communication equipment.

This plug has a .206 inch diameter 3 conductor shaft required for Collins and RL Drake Radios. It is also a suitable replacement cable for Aviation Microphones The assembly is prewired with the white conductor for Audio and the Red Conductor for PTT and of course the shield / ground.

Overall length of the cable is 6 feet and the connector is 3.1 in, shell diameter of 0.49 in, Shaft length 1.09 in, and Shaft diameter 0.206 in. It has a slightly smaller shaft than the standard 1/4 inch plug. This Mill spec Connector is made with brass and has a metal outer cover and a non conductive inner sleeve, which cinches onto the microphone cable as you screw on and tighten the outer sleeve. This will work with most cable diameters and is really a very effective strain relief.

For Microphones with a PTT switch, wire the switch to ground the red wire on transmit. The Collins SM-3 microphoness are wired that way and use 2-conductor with ground braid cable (except in some cases of availability). The inputs are HI-Z, so you won?t get a ground loop. This microphone cable assembly has been used with the KW-1 and KWS-1 transmitters and also with Electro voice 664 microphones to Signal/One radios so this assembly should work with just about any Microphone and Radio requiring the .206 inch Microphone plug
