Product Description

This Collins 75S-3C Receiver, is a late serial number (30286 and MCN# 3310), radio, in Collector's Quality Condition.NOTE: This Receiver appears to be a Collins Factory Conversion radio. there was a period when a conversion kit was offered to convert a 75S-3B to a 75S-3C.You can see that the white area above the preselecter is not solid indicating this radio was originally a 75S-3B This radio was converted by the factory and the serial number was manipulated to 30286. In addition to this, an MCN number was added to the chassis. This was not done on kit conversions. This receiver has all the updates found in a 75S-3C in that serial number range. It has been stored unused for many years. It has never been in a smoking environment and is as clean as a new one.The 30,000 serial number 75S-3C receivers are known to be the very best of the 75S-3C receivers. They are the last of them that were actually built in Cedar Rapids Iowa, by the people who really knew how to build them. This serial number range has most if not all of the service bulletin updates as well as Teflon wiring.Later serial number 75S-3C receivers, were built in Dallas Texas, and it is apparent that quality did suffer with the Collins S-Line gear built there by the newer Crew.Cabinet paint also was sub par as compared with the units built at Cedar Rapids. This Radio is absolutely beautiful with no bad marks or scratches. There are no signs of wear or use on the rest of this radio and it is apparent it was not used much. The front panel is spotless.Everything appears to be original. Both plastic ABS trim rings and metal trim rings were used on this serial number range and this receiver has a metal trim ring which is desirable as it will not "yellow" with age as the ABS plastic trim rings will do.This receiver is VERY desirable with all the attributes of late series S-Line gear. It has Teflon wiring, and as with the late serial number gear, all the factory updates up to that point. It is rare these days to find a nice 75S-3C and even more rare to find one in collector's quality condition like this one.I did put this receiver on the air and all functions worked as they should. The received is sensitive, and has excellent receive audio. The PTO operation is smooth. The receiver comes with the original Collins Power cord and I will provide a reproduction of the proper dated manual.I also have a variety of Original Collins manuals on my web site. There are no optional filters installed just the standard SSB Filter. As with most vintage gear, this receiver may benefit with an alignment or tube replacements, but it does appear to be working great as it is.This receiver has all the original electrolytic capacitors. It would be prudent to change them to modern replacements too assure trouble free operation. I have Capacitor replacement kits available and will make one available at my cost if you would like to update this receiver.I am very proficient packing this type of heavy vintage radio gear. The unit will be double boxed and professionally packed to a degree you can not get from normal packing facilities.
