Home brew VHF, 4CX-250 single Tube Amplifier with Heavy Duty Power Supply NICE!
This Amplifier and power supply, appear to be made following a ARRL Handbook or QST Design.
I do not have any paperwork, but it appears to be a standard strip line design, using a 4CX-250 power amplifier tube. Both the RF Deck and power supply, are built very well.
The Power supply uses an Avitar Magnetics, AV-415 Transformer. The transformer has 1600, 1460, and 1330 secondary taps, and is set up on the 1600 Volt Tap.
All are rated at 2 amps (SSB Duty) or 1.2 Amp 100 % continuous duty.
The Diodes are the very heavy duty type found in many high power amplifier power supplies.
It has a cut out on the top for a muffin fan but apparently it was not needed.
It has Millen HV connectors and the two millen HV interface cables are included.
Who ever built this project did a great job. I have not powered it up but I do remember the owner said it was up and working, but it was several years ago. It has been stored here in a clean, dry, heated environment.
The power supply alone is worth the asking price, as it is a well built power supply and can be used for many different types of Amateur and Audio Amplifiers.
I am selling it as is as described. The shipping amount is a quote. If it costs less to ship to your address, I will refund the difference. If it costs more I will cover it.
