Product Description

This 1945 vintage BC-348-Q Communications  LF/MF/HF Receiver, is in Excellent Condition.

This American made receiver was used in WW-II Larger Aircraft like the B-17, B-24, B-25, B-26, B-29, C-47, etc.

The units placed in Aircraft has an on board dynamotor.

This Version has a built in 115 VDC power supply with a 5Y3 Rectifier.

It would appear this field conversion was done on this unit and it looks like it was factory installed.

The other modification (since the cabinet is completely closed) is the vents added to the rear of the cabinet to allow for the heat created by the AC Power supply conversion.

I do not recall ever seeing one this nice and clean. Everything appears to be original.

Even the paper tag on the top of the cabinet and the paper decal on the front are intact.

I tested this receiver on the air and was able to tune in signals with a small outside antenna. I particularly enjoyed listening to the AM broadcast bands.

The BC-348-B, and -C, tuned 1.5-18 MHz in six bands. The Signal Corps had the receiver design modified to add a 200-500 kHzband and compress the 1.5-18 MHz coverage into the remaining five bands. This modified design became the BC-224-E and the BC-348-E. The 200–500 kHz and 1.5-18 MHz tuning range remained constant for subsequent production of all models including this BC-348-Q.

As with most vintage gear, it may be improved with an alignment or tube replacement, but appears to be working well as it is.

The frequency dial lights up with a red glow.

The antenna connection is on the front panel as is the headphone / speaker jack.

I am selling this beautiful receiver as is, as described, for the family of a silent key
